January Fourth

Visited UNL today! Things I learned: 1) College orientations are fairly similar to AF briefings, but they haven’t learned about 10 minute breaks every 50 minutes yet. 2) There is a intramural club sport called Human Battleship. It’s played in the pool, in canoes. You play until there is only one canoe left that hasn’t (literally) sunk. That’s amazing. 3) I saw a fistulated cow today for the first time in person.

Wait, “what’s a fistulated cow”, you ask?

Not my picture, but here’s one! The steers at UNL were red, too. A fistulated cow basically has a plug surgically implanted in it’s abdomen so researchers can access the rumen easily to learn about how cows digest different kinds of food matter.
